Matthew Benson is principal consultant and founder of PD3. His passion is finding meaningful insights and opportunities to drive innovation.
Matt has a strong background as an engineer, researcher, facilitator, ideator, business analyst, and strategist. As a Contract Entrepreneur with Foster Chamberlain, he assisted Fortune 1000 industrial firms to assess business opportunities and commercialize new technologies through a variety of alternative business models. As Manager of Consumer Research at Johnson Controls, he drove the application of consumer and market insights to next generation automobile interior concepts around topics such as telematics, new seating technologies, and multi-function displays. Prior to JCI, Matt spent six years with Innovation Focus where he worked with large clients to develop new products and businesses.
He has served as President of the Philadelphia chapter and a board member with the Great Lakes chapter of the Product Development & Management Association. Matt holds a New Product Development Professional (NPDP) certification. He regularly speaks on the successful application of consumer insights, idea generation, and innovation process.
Matt holds a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.
